‘She was the bravest person I ever met’ – Lale Sokolov. Heather Morris’s debut novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, became an international bestseller as it moved and uplifted readers across the world. New Zealand author, Heather joins us at MLF to discuss the heart-breaking sequel, Cilka’s Journey. After the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Cilka is charged as a collaborator and sent to a Siberian prison camp. Helping to tend to the ill, Cilka falls in love, finding hope in the darkest of situations. Cilka’s Journey considers the resilience of humans when confronted with death and terror. Chaired by Sherry Ashworth.
